The Executive Council and Advocacy and Ethics committees would like to connect with our DPA Membership in a Virtual Town Hall meeting to discuss DPA’s position and involvement in a current piece of legislation, entitled HB 140, The Ron Silverio/Heather Block End of Life Options Law. This Act “permits a terminally ill individual who is an adult resident of Delaware to request and self-administer medication to end the individual's life in a humane and dignified manner if both the individual's attending physician and a consulting physician agree on the individual's diagnosis and prognosis and believe the individual has decision-making capacity, is making an informed decision, and is acting voluntarily.”
During this Town Hall, we plan to (1) provide a summary of the bill, (2) explore DPA’s position on the issue and potential changes to the bill, as it relates to psychology involvement, and (3) offer an open discussion for member input and opinions.
